MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The pepper market in the last week of 2023 continued to show a mixed responses as the market reopened after the Christmas holiday.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper reported stable this week.
Both local and international prices for Indonesian pepper reported with an increasing trend this week
which partially contributed to the strengthening of the Indonesian Rupiah against the US Dollar (IDR 15,423 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation.
As the Malaysian Ringgit strengthened against the US Dollar (MYR 4.62 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation,
Malaysian local price reported with an increasing trend this week. Furthermore, the international price for Malaysian pepper remained stable and unchanged.
Even though the Sri Lankan Rupee strengthened against the US Dollar (LKR 324.63 @ 1 USD) or 1% deprecation,
the local price for Sri Lankan pepper reported stable this week.
The local price for Vietnamese pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week. Whilst, the international price reported with an increasing trend.
Pepper prices in US market continued to reported with an increasing trend which contributed to the unstable freight rates.
