MALAYSIA NATIONAL PEPPER INDUSTRY CONFERENCE 2024
Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was chosen as the venue for the first ever Malaysia National Pepper Industry Conference (MNIPC 2024) on 14 – 15 May 2024. These two days Conference was opened and officiated by Chairman of Malaysian Pepper Board, the Honourable Dato’ Anyi Ngau. In his opening remarks, Dato’ Anyi Ngau welcomed all participants to the first ever Malaysian National Pepper Industry Conference which was organized by the Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) with collaboration of the Ministry of Plantation Commodities, Malaysia (MPC) and International Pepper Community Secretariat (IPC) to ensure further development of the Malaysian pepper industry. He encouraged participants to use this opportunity i to learn from the invited guest speakers, exhibitors and to further expand their network.

With around 250 total participants, the MNIPC 2024 exhibited more than 10 spices companies from all around Malaysia during the two days conference. The International Pepper Community took part as one of the Exhibitors and showcased samples of pepper products and value-added product as well as the current Global Pepper Outlook. The IPC Secretariat also provided IPC Website’s service on a trial basis to interested visitors.

In the first day of the Conference, the Executive Director of the International Pepper Community Secretariat, Ms. Firna Azura Ekaputri Haji Marzuki presented on Global Pepper Outlook 2023/2024 whereby she elaborated on the current development and statistic of the Global Pepper Industry as well as the work and programme of the International Pepper Community. She also shared the global consolidated crop report 2023/2024 and concluded the presentation with the invitation to all participants to join the 52nd Annual Session and Meetings of the International Pepper Community and the International Spices Exhibition 2024 which brought the theme of Regenerative Pepper Cultivation: Going Beyond Sustainability scheduled on 18 – 21 November 2024 at the Hilton Hotel Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The first day also witnessed the presentation by Mr. Van Vannal the Executive Director of Cambodia Pepper and Spices Federation (CPSF) which elaborated on the Cambodia Pepper Industry: Potential Sourcing Country of Pepper. He elaborated that in recent years most of Cambodian pepper were exported to Viet Nam. He also touched upon the programme of Cambodia Pepper and Spices Federation in which stressed on the importance of helping farmers to be able to directly export to European (consuming) Market.
