Despite of the arrival of newly harvested pepper from the origins, Pepper prices continue its increasing trend in Indonesia and Malaysia. Harvesting of pepper from the main producing areas of Sarawak in Malaysia has started in May and Lampung began in the mid of July. Local prices of Black Pepper in Lampung, Indonesia recorded an increase by 2% as compared to the average prices last week. In Sarawak, local prices continue to rise by 6% and has recorded to a new all-time high. In other origins like India and Vietnam, local pepper prices were stable at the current high level, while in Sri Lanka prices eased by 2%. FOB prices of Sarawak Black has gone up by 5% while in Lampung, FOB prices of black pepper increased by 2%.

White Pepper:
Local prices of white pepper in Bangka, Indonesia and Sarawak, Malaysia continue its increasing trend by 1% and 3% respectively, while in Vietnam, pepper prices prevailing during the week were stable.
