MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The pepper market in the first week of 2024 continued to show a mix response.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper reported with an increasing trend this week.
Indonesian black pepper price continued to be reported with an increasing trend since last week.
Whilst, Indonesian white pepper reported with a decreasing trend which partially contributed to the weakening of the Indonesian Rupiah
against the US Dollar (IDR 15,503 @ 1 USD) or 1% depreciation.
Only Malaysian local white pepper price reported with a decreasing trend this week, Whilst, the others reported stable and unchanged.
The local price for Sri Lankan pepper reported with an increasing trend this week which partially contributed to the strengthening of the Sri Lankan Rupee
against the US Dollar (LKR 322.24 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation.
The local price for Vietnamese black pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing since last week. Whilst, the local price for Vietnamese white pepper reported stable.
Furthermore, the international price for Vietnamese pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend for the last two (2) weeks.

Brazilian black pepper, Cambodian black pepper as well as Chinese white pepper were reported stable this week.
Furthermore, Cambodian Commerce ministry all set for drafting pepper policy to help increase the market share and to ensure value-added prices
for the pepper production chain in Cambodia.
