MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The pepper market in the first week of February continued to show a mix response with India and Sri Lanka were reported with a decreasing trend.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing trend since last week.
Both local and international price for Indonesian pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing for the last two (2) weeks.
Furthermore, the East Kalimantan Plantation Service reported to have allocated funds to expand pepper plantations covering an area of ​​50 ha.
Only Malaysian local pepper price reported with an increasing trend this week, Whilst, the others remained stable and unchanged.
Even though the Sri Lankan Rupee strengthened against the US Dollar (LKR 316.60 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation,
the local price for Sri Lankan pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week.
Only Vietnamese local black pepper price reported with an increasing this week.
Whilst the others remained stable as the domestic market remained relatively quiet.

Brazilian black pepper, Cambodian black pepper as well as Chinese white pepper reported stable this week.
