WPB Week #44/13, 28 October - 1 November 2013
The market is quite firm and prices at all producing countries has increased further. Significant increases were recorded for local price prevailed in Brazil and Sri Lanka. Short supply situation is the main reason for this continuation of price increase. Recent harvest in Brazil is likely not adequate to cover the shortage of supply from other sources. In Lampung and Vietnam, traders/brokers are finding it very difficult to source raw material. Local price in Lampung increased to IDR 74,000 per kg from IDR 72,500 at the beginning of the week. Local price of black pepper in Kochi also increased to INR 458 per kg from INR 452 last week.
