MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


The pepper market in the end of August continued to show a mix response.
Both local and international price for Indian pepper reported stable this week.
As the Indonesian Rupiah strengthened against the US Dollar ( IDR 15,449 @ 1 USD) or 1% appreciation,
both local and international prices for Indonesian pepper continued to be reported with an increasing trend since last week as some farmers
in Bangka and Belitung Province have completed their pepper harvest.
Only local price for Malaysian pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week.
Whilst, international price for Malaysian pepper reported stable and unchanged.
After reported stable for the last two (2) weeks, the local price for Sri Lankan pepper reported with a decreasing trend this week.
Only local black pepper prices for Vietnamese pepper reported stable this week.
Whilst, the international price for Vietnamese pepper reported with an increasing trend. According to KTĐT.vn,
some farmers had yet to sell and choose to wait for prices to increase further.

Brazilian black pepper continued to be reported with an increase since last week.
Whilst, Cambodian black pepper remained stable and unchanged.
Furthermore, Chinese white pepper continued to be reported with a decreasing trend this week.
Pepper market in US reported stable for last two (2) weeks which could be contributed
to the local currency exchange strengthening against the US Dollar.
