MARKET REPORT - KEY HIGHLIGHTS


Market this week continues showed a rather negative outlook with no origins reported with an increase.
As the Indian Rupee weakened against the US Dollar (INR 82.31 @ 1 USD), recorded 1% depreciation,
Indian pepper price continued to be reported with a decreasing trend for the last four (4) weeks.
Pepper price for Indonesia responded negative this week which partially contributed to
the weakening of the Indonesian Rupiah against the US Dollar (IDR 15,356 @ 1 USD),
recorded 1% depreciation as stock was rare in farmer\'s level.
Only Malaysian local white pepper price responded negative this week.
Whilst the rest reported stable and unchanged.
Local price for Sri Lankan pepper continued to be reported stable this week.
Both local and international prices for Viet Nam continued to be reported with a decreasing trend for the last three (3) weeks.
The US market was reported with a decreasing trend which could be contributed to a big drop in freight costs,
the weakened local currency against the US Dollar as well as the limited demand from the US, EU and Canada.
Furthermore, Muntok white pepper was reported at USD 6,350 CF for October/January.
Export of Pepper by South Korea (2020 - 2022).
